7/13/18:
"4 play at PAC, 12 play (1 return) at C.G.!":
There were two official sessions of GTA Friday the Thirteenth Tennis: the first was at the Park Ave. Courts in Nutley (with both "TNT" Tim Nguyen and "The Great Wall" Muhammad Haque reporting from there); and the other session was the usual evening affair at The Cedar Grove Courts (with "The Marathon Woman" Doinks Srinivasan, "Hurricane" Jose Gonzales, "The Icon" Nick Inciong and "The Riz" John Rizzo all reporting from there).
After two straight epic and historic days of GTA action, both sessions were more of a laidback affair! Let's try to tackle all the above in that chronological order which I believe to be as true as can be based on how it was all reported to me.
First we go to Nutley and then we will go up to Cedar Grove.
The Park Ave. Courts Results:
Muhammad Haque over Tim Nguyen, 6-4! No Aces.
Tim Nguyen over Muhammad Haque, 6-2! No Aces.
Muhammad Haque tied with Tim Nguyen, 4-4 (Incomplete, presumably ended early to play Doubles). No Aces.
The Muhammad Memo: It was 3-1, but I then broke his serve and eventually leveled it at 4-4.
We decided to call it off at that time.
Sam Wong/Tim Nguyen over Muhammad Haque/Joe Renga, 6-1! No Aces.
Tim's Up: We played from 7:30 to 10pm.
Samara's Notes: I thank both Muhammad and Tim for their very timely reporting. It is much appreciated.
And we now shift west to Cedar Grove.
The Cedar Grove Results:
2 out of 3 Sets Mixed Doubles Match:
Mike Sindler/Doinks Srinivasan over Syed Rashid/Marie Salamon, 6-2, 6-2, as both teams entered the Mixed Doubles Division as the New # 57 and # 58 Ranked Teams respectively! It was the official GTA Return of Marie Salamon. No Aces.
Tito Castolo/Nick Inciong over Jose Gonzales/Kyle Eng, 6-1! No Aces.
Jose Gonzales/Kyle Eng over Tito Castolo/Nick Inciong, 7-5! Jose: 1 Ace on Tito!
Jose has his say: We were down 3-5 and later I had the Ace on Tito in a crucial moment when we were tied at 5-All and Deuce!
2 out of 3 Sets Mixed Gender Doubles Match:
Jeremy Gottlieb/Janice Wang over Kris Srinivasan/John Rizzo, 7-5, 6-2! No Aces. Per the TMT Rules, Gottlieb/Wang entered the Mixed Doubles Division as the New # 59 Ranked Team while Srinivasan/Rizzo entered the Doubles Division as the New # 72 Ranked Team.
Samara's Notes: I thank everyone who reported in such a timely fashion from Cedar Grove. It is all greatly appreciated!
Sincerely,
Frank Samara
