"Celis-Shiao at MP, 9 play at C.G.!":
There were two official sessions of GTA Monday Tennis: a morning one at the Mountainside Park Courts in Montclair featuring a full Challenge Match (plus an additional One-Setter) between "The Scorpion Dragon" Dino Celis and Tony "Sure Shot" Shiao (with both reporting) and then there was the usual evening session at the Cedar Grove Courts featuring report contributions from "The Riz" John Rizzo, "Bravo" Brenda Jordan, "J-Rod" Joe Rodrigues and "The Marathon Woman" Doinks Srinivasan.
Let's go to the Mountainside Park scores first and then all the results from Cedar Grove!
The Mountainside Park Result:
2 out of 3 Sets Challenge Match:
Tony Shiao over Dino Celis, 6-2, 6-3, to become the New # 8 Ranked Player in the Advanced Division! Dino: 1 Ace in the 2nd Set!
The Details from Dino: Tony played well with his heavy topspin forehand shots. We then played a One-Setter.
The Sure Shot from Shiao: I played Dino at Mountainside in the morning. It was a perfect day for tennis and we played hard and gave it our all. Many games went to Deuce and the match was much closer than the score indicates. The Ace that Dino had in the 2nd Set was out wide to my forehand.

The Details from Dino: This was a great match!
The Sure Shot from Shiao: After the match we decided to an additional One-Setter, which was very close. Dino came back after I was leading 5-1 to take it to a Tiebreak. I was able to edge him out for the win to take the TB at 7-5. I'm looking forward to playing Dino in the future for another rank defense!
Samara's Notes: I thank both for their very timely reporting and I congratulate Tony on a very impressive victory! We now head north just a bit to go to Cedar Grove.
The Cedar Grove Results:
2 out of 3 Sets Mixed Doubles Match:
John Rizzo/Brenda Jordan over Kevin Doyle/Dawn Peterson, 6-3, 6-3, as both teams entered the Mixed Doubles Division as the New # 36 and # 37 Ranked Teams respectively! No Aces.
2 out of 3 Sets Mixed Gender Doubles Match:
Omar Santos/Kyle Eng over Joe Rodrigues/Brenda Jordan, 6-3, 6-2! Under the TMT Rules, the team of Santos/Eng entered the Doubles Division as the New # 55 Team while the team of Rodrigues/Jordan entered the Mixed Doubles Division as the New # 38 Ranked Team. No Aces.
Kyle Eng/Doinks Srinivasan over Kris Srinivasan/Omar Santos, 6-3! No Aces.
Kyle Eng/Doinks Srinivasan tied with Kris Srinivasan/Omar Santos, 1-1 (Incomplete…not sure if that was due to the rain or lights out at 10pm as Doinks did not say)! No Aces.
