7/3 Results.

7/3/17:

"Kris/Spin host 20 at C.G.!":

GTA Monday Night Tennis only took place at The Cedar Grove Courts as "The K Man" Kris Srinivasan and "Spin Doctor" Dan Martinelli acted as co-hosts.  Being that this was some sort of quasi-extended July 4th weekend, it likely gave a slightly different feel to the festivities.  Kris will begin this report and Spin will end it!

The Cedar Grove Results:

Jordan Bachvaroff/Raj Shah versus Jay Phoenix/Andrew Troung!

Samara's Notes: Kris never reported a score for this one.  I asked him about it, but didn't get a reply.  And I'm not about to chase it down from those involved as I've had absolutely too much on my plate as of late (hey, I'm a poet and I didn't even know it).  So, this one will have to remain unofficial.

We now go back to Kris.

Kris Srinivasan/Mike Sindler over Raj Boddu/Syed Rashid, 6-4!  No Aces.

Kris Srinivasan/Raj Boddu over Jay Phoenix/Jose Gonzales, 6-0!  No Aces.

Jordan Bachvaroff/Jose Gonzales over Kris Srinivasan/Raj Boddu, 7-5!  No Aces.

3 out of 5 Sets Doubles Match:

T.J. Shah/Tito Castolo over Guy Dupoux/Cliff Pierre-Louis, 6-0, 6-2, 6-1, as both teams entered the Doubles Division as the New # 51 and # 52 Ranked Teams respectively!  No Aces (apparently).

Dennis Cabanatan/Laura Gawley over Andrew Troung/Sairaj Srinivasan, 6-4!  No Aces (apparently).

Andrew Troung/Laura Gawley over Sairaj Srinivasan/Dennis Cabanatan, 6-3!  No Aces (apparently).

And now we turn this report over to Spin.

I arrived at Cedar Grove to see three of the four courts controlled by GTA "buggers" and there were some interlopers on Court 3.  Seeing the onslaught of GTA faithful, the three players on that court relinquished it rather quickly.  I, in turn, quickly thanked them and off they went.

It was not all that hot out but, oh my, was it humid!  The air was both heavy and thick.  Anyone with respiratory ailments was better served staying indoors and enjoying the comforts of air-conditioning.  All rain held off until it was time to get in our cars and head home.

Raj Shah/Doinks Srinivasan over Rob Gawley/Dan Martinelli, 6-2!  Raj: 1 Ace on Spin.

The Spin from Spin: Rob and I got off to a great start.  Doinks was very consistent, but Raj could not find the range on his drop shots and placed numerous tries into the bottom of the net.  He was like a fourth of July firework that was a dud.  We quickly went up 2-0.  Somewhere in that third game a fuse was lit and Raj performed a complete reversal.  His shots started finding their way and Doinks was relentless. Rob and I were helpless and dropped the last six games!

Rob Gawley/Dan Martinelli over Raj Shah/Doinks Srinivasan, 6-4!  No Aces.

The Spin from Spin: Again we started off with a win in the first game.  Were we going to go up 2-0 just to drop the next six games?  Our plan was clear.  Drop the second game!  We did and at 1-1 we traded games to get to 4-4.  With Rob serving at 4-4 and no service holds under his belt heretofore, it was time to light his fuse.  The crafty squash player started slicing and dicing and both Doinks and Raj had trouble with his gravity-defying maneuvers.  At one point during this set, Rob noticed a small insect trolling around on our side of the court.  Fearing we would stomp it out of existence, Rob was able to retrieve the little sucker and move him to a safer area.  Before the set ended, the little guy found his way back onto the court…but we were almost done by then.  Rob is kind to all walks of life.  We pulled out the set 6-4 to even things up.  We had time for another, but Rob and I stepped off so others could play.

Samara's Notes: It sounds like that little bugger was suicidal…LOL!  I thank both Kris and Spin for their very timely reporting of these results.

Sincerely,

Frank Samara
