9/4/18:
"Just Liu-Valencia at PAC!":
GTA Tuesday Night Tennis only officially took place at The Park Ave. Courts in Nutley and it featured a full Challenge Match between "SWAT" Rich Liu and "Eddie Money" Edgar Valencia (with Rich reporting). Some witnesses said they saw players out on the courts at Cedar Grove that night, but there was no way of telling if they were GTA players or not. If they were with our group, they have obviously opted to keep whatever took place there unofficial.
So now let's get to the lone official result of the night!
The Park Ave. Courts Result:
2 out of 3 Sets Challenge Match:
Rich Liu over Edgar Valencia, 6-4, 6-1, to successfully defend both his # 24 Rank in the Advanced Division and # 4 Rank in the Intermediate Division! Edgar: 4 Aces!
The Rich Recap: It was a hard-fought victory. Edgar was money as usual with his monster serve (scoring four Aces to my zero, though I almost had one). The 1st Set was back and forth with Fast Eddy seemingly always able to be on top, but somehow I came through in the end to take the set at 6-4. In the 2nd Set, Energizer Eddie slowed down some and I won it at 6-1. He said he was simply saving his energy for the East vs West challenge. I pity his opponent! Haha!
Samara's Notes: I thank Rich for his timely and comprehensive report...and also congratulate him on an impressive victory! His continued improvement is once again on display here.
Sincerely,
Frank Samara
