"8 play in MP, 5 play at C.G.!":
There were two official sessions of GTA Saturday Tennis: with the first one starting in the morning as "Dominant" Dawn Peterson put it out to the league that she was now organizing a session at Mountainside Park in Montclair. Along with her contribution to this report, other contributors from that session were "Killer Kat" Kathy Sheldon, "Bravo" Brenda Jordan and "TNT" Tim Nguyen. It seems that all involved enjoyed this new session and we can only hope it becomes a new mainstay (tradition, eventually) in the league.
The other session was in the evening, the usual one at The Cedar Grove Courts. "The Riz" John Rizzo and "The Lumberjack" Ryan Pienciak both reported results from that location.
So we first go to Montclair in the morning and then we will go to Cedar Grove in the evening!
The Mountainside Park Results:
Kathy Sheldon/Diane Raum over Dawn Peterson/Kathy Marabondo, 6-0! No Aces.
Diane Raum/Kathy Marabondo over Kathy Sheldon/Dawn Peterson, 6-2! No Aces.
Kathy Sheldon/Kathy Marabondo over Dawn Peterson/Diane Raum, 7-5! No Aces.
The Chat from Killer Kat: Speaking for our ladies action, our three One-Setters were great! Everyone played well and we had a fun morning!
The Details from Dawn: We had a great tennis group in Montclair on Saturday. Even though I played terrible, it was fun! We had a total of eight players which was perfect.
2 out of 3 Sets Mixed Doubles Match:
Tim Nguyen/Brenda Jordan over Rich Liu/Laurie Boughton, 6-3, 6-3, as both teams entered the Mixed Doubles Division as the New # 29 and # 30 Ranked Teams respectively! No Aces.
Tim's Up: We played from 9am to 11:40 (total). It was great play. Brenda had so many nice hits, good angles and returns. Laurie was in the game while Rich made some mistakes at returning and missed some points.
The Brief from Brenda: The ladies took a break while the guys played for a while before we decided to play one more set (a One-Setter).
Rich Liu over Tim Nguyen, 6-0! No Aces.
Tim's Up: After the Doubles, Laurie and Brenda took a break as Rich and I battled each other in Singles. Rich changed his racket and played with the heavier one. He was in control and got in some very hard hitting shots...great play!
Tim Nguyen/Brenda Jordan over Rich Liu/Laurie Boughton, 6-4! No Aces.
Tim's Up: We came back to the ladies and played Doubles again. This time around, Rich and Laurie were determined to win. Laurie must have hit so hard that one of her strings broke and she had to play with one of her back-up racquets. They won the first game and eventually led at 4-3, but Brenda and I managed to play well and eventually won it at 6-4.
It was great playing with everyone!
Samara's Notes: I am really pleased to see this session develop as it received rave reviews from all involved and four of the eight players took the time to report the results…such was the level of enthusiasm for this gathering. I thank all who reported for their very timely and detailed reporting.
We now move into the evening and head over to Cedar Grove.

Adam Pienciak/Mike Mole over Ryan Pienciak/John Rizzo, 7-5! No Aces.
Ryan Pienciak vs. Adam Pienciak, tied at 2-2 (Incomplete when the lights went out at 10pm)! No Aces.
