11/1/17:
"Kris/Kat host 14 at C.G.!":
There was just one session of GTA Tuesday Night Tennis and it was the usual one at The Cedar Grove Courts hosted by "The K Man" Kris Srinivasan, but "Killer Kat" Kathy Sheldon put together a Women's Doubles Match that she reported (also with "Bravo" Brenda Jordan reporting, but not as detailed).
So we will now turn this report over to Kris as he also properly sets up the spot where the results come in from Kathy.
It was relatively a cool night, but the GTA action was intense. It was good to see John Rizzo, followed shortly by Rich Liu. But the ladies were the first to start the proceedings for the night and had completed their match shortly after we commenced (close to 7:45 pm). We will get those results now.
The Cedar Grove Results:
2 out of 3 Sets Women's Doubles Match:
Kathy Sheldon/Dawn Peterson over Brenda Jordan/Michele Panzitta, 6-3, 6-3, to successfully defend their # 8 Rank in the Women's Doubles Division! In the process, Jordan/Panzitta entered the division as the New # 18 Ranked Team. No Aces.
Brenda Jordan/Michele Panzitta over Kathy Sheldon/Dawn Peterson, 6-4! No Aces.
Samara's Notes: I thank both Kathy and Brenda for reporting those results in a very timely manner. We now turn this report back over to Kris.
Kris Srinivasan/Edgar Valencia over John Rizzo/Doinks Srinivasan, 6-4! No Aces.
We were cruising all along and at one point we were leading 5-1 before John and Doinks mounted their comeback. John was pretty steady with hardly any unforced errors. For us, Edgar served well and was good at the net.
Kris Srinivasan/Edgar Valencia over John Rizzo/Rich Liu, 6-3! No Aces.
We started well in this set (leading 2-Love again), but the lead was cut short soon. Rich had some attacking forehand shots, but it turned out to be a "high risk, high reward" game for him as the errors started to skew the result. It was a good intense set that had moments of glory for all the players.
Nathan Fernandes/Ryan Pienciak over Mike Mole/Mike Sindler, 6-4! No Aces.
It certainly looked a close match. Mole had plenty of full-blooded shots that he played to Ryan at the net, winning him many points…but he also had some lame shots to undo the pressure he was creating. It was a mixed bag for Sindler. Nate was the steady one and showed his usual kills with his slices.
Nathan Fernandes/Natalia Sout over Ryan Pienciak/Doinks Srinivasan, 6-3! No Aces.
It started off on an even keel before Ryan and Doinks fell apart. Nate and Natalia kept their winning streak intact!
Nathan Fernandes/Natalia Sout over Ryan Pienciak/Doinks Srinivasan, 10-8 (STB)! No Aces.
It was "vamos" time immediately after the lights went off as it was getting pretty cold. Still, it was a hectic and active night of GTA Tennis. Cheers!
Samara's Notes: That last Super Tiebreak will be unofficial as it is not attached to anything and cannot stand alone as an official result. As always, I thank Kris for all he does for the GTA up at Cedar Grove.
Sincerely,
Frank Samara
