"Greg-Senthil in Wayne, Gen hosts 2 at AP!:
There were two sessions of GTA Saturday Tennis: a morning session at The Nellis Drive Courts in Wayne that featured the GTA Intermediate Title Tournament Final Match (to crown a New GTA Intermediate Champ (between "The Pilot" Greg Swierczek and "The Webmaster" Senthil Kumar, as reported by Senthil) and then a late afternoon session at Albion Park (hosted by "The S Bomber" Genalin Capan as she played a Singles One-Setter with "Holy Moly" Mike Mole).
Let's first start with Senthil's report before we go to Gen's recap.
The Wayne Result:
GTA Intermediate Title Tournament Final Match:
Senthil Kumar over Greg Swierczek, 5-7, 6-3, 6-3, to win the GTA Intermediate Title Tournament and become both the New GTA Intermediate Champ and the New # 16 Ranked Player in the Advanced Division in the process! No Aces (apparently).
1st Set: The first game for both servers went to Deuce and both held their serve. Then both got broken to level it at 2-2 and 3-3. Senthil then lead 5-3, but then lost the next 4 games and the set to Greg.
2nd Set: Senthil was leading 4-1 and 5-2 and then won it at 6-3 to level the match.
3rd Set: Started off at 1-1 and then Senthil took leads of 4-1 and 5-2 before closing out the set (and match) at 6-3.
Samara's Notes: I thank Senthil for his comprehensive report and congratulate him on a very impressive victory! Kudos go to Greg as well for a valiant effort. This seems like it could be a possible Nominee for the Intermediate Singles Match of The Year at season's end. And while Tony "Sure Shot" Shiao may still be in the lead for consideration as the Most Improved Player of The Year, Senthil is right on his heels as a close second this season.
The AP Result:
Mike Mole over Genalin Capan, 7-5! Mike: 4 Aces!
Gen's Notes: We started hitting at 4:15 and then the One-Setter lasted from 4:45 to 5:25.
