6/1

Kris hosts 13 at C.G.!”:

GTA Wednesday Night Tennis only took place at The Cedar Grove Courts (hosted by “Papa K” Kris Srinivasan).

So we now go to Kris for his report.

It turned out to be somewhat of a lukewarm session with some listless matches despite no Pickle Ballers and a better than poor GTA turnout.

The Cedar Grove Results:

This one just in from Joe Rodrigues…

Moka Pathan/Joe Rodrigues over Jay Phoenix/Michel Encarnacion, 6-2!  No Aces (apparently).

Moka Pathan/Joe Rodrigues over Jorge Santos/Santosh Reddy, 6-2!  No Aces (apparently).

Jay Phoenix and Michel Encarnacion played against a couple of non-GTA players, a guy and a gal. The guy appeared to be a decent player, but the match lacked energy.

Lou La Forgia/Santosh Reddy over Kris Srinivasan/Natalia Sout, 6-2!  No Aces.

Generally, it was a crapshoot without the proper balance of the players (match-ups) and it didn’t help that Joe and Moka left after just one set.  So did Lou.

Jay and Michel looked like they would play Singles, but then that was scrapped. Spin (aka Dan Martinelli) came late, but only for a short stay. Such was the trend for the night.

Jose Gonzales/Jorge Solano over Rob Gawley/Laura Gawley, 6-1!  No Aces (apparently).

I could be wrong on the score and certainly on any Aces that Jose might have had...:-).

This just in – the score was wrong.  Laura sent in the correction (and additional results).  The corrected score is already listed above while the additional results now follow.

Rob Gawley/Laura Gawley over Jose Gonzales/Natalia Sout, 6-2!  No Aces (apparently).

The last match was between the women and men, with Laura and Natalia taking on Jose and Rob (which was initially not reported, but now is by Laura).

Jose Gonzales/Rob Gawley tied with Laura Gawley/Natalia Sout, 3-3 (Incomplete when the lights went out at 10pm)!  No Aces (apparently).

Overall, the night was great for tennis… but it certainly lacked the spark.

Samara’s Notes: Sorry to hear about the lackluster session.  That sometimes happens at Robin Hood Park as well.  Yet, other times we catch lightning in a bottle and have impromptu matches that we will likely remember for the rest of our lives.  You never know.

As always, Kris is “the host with the most” up at Cedar Grove.  I thank him for all he does for our league up there.

Sincerely,
Frank Samara
