11/24/17:
"Riz hosts 14 at Bubble, Scott-Rafaelo at C.G.!":
There were two somewhat unusual sessions of GTA Black Friday Tennis: the first was a morning session at The Wayne Bubble hosted by "The Riz" John Rizzo while the second was an afternoon session at The Cedar Grove Courts that came together as the result of an Open Challenge issued earlier that morning by "Ice Berg" Scott Bergenfeld. The respondent was "RK Fire" Rafaelo Kazakov. Bouncing back a bit, it should also be noted that "The Marathon Woman" Doinks Srinivasan also reported the results for which she was involved in up at The Bubble.
So first we will go to the scores sent in by John (along with a brief note from Doinks) and then to the report from Scott.
The Wayne Bubble Results:
2 out of 3 Sets Mixed Doubles Match:
Don Moya/Doinks Srinivasan over John Rizzo/Brenda Jordan, 6-3, 1-6, 6-3, as both teams entered the Mixed Doubles Division as the New # 54 and # 55 Ranked Teams respectively! No Aces.
Don Moya/Doinks Srinivasan over John Rizzo/Brenda Jordan, 6-1! No Aces. We used "No Ad" scoring in this set.
Samara's Notes: I presumed this was done in order to try to get it done in time (which they did) as Doinks noted they started this last One-Setter when there was only 24 minutes left in the session.
Dennis Cabanatan/David Caicedo over Anish Mehta/Levy Lorenzo, 6-3! No Aces.
Senthil Kumar/Frank Hohorst over Nick Caputo/Alex Hohorst, 6-2! No Aces.
2 out of 3 Sets Doubles Match:
Senthil Kumar/Frank Hohorst over Levy Lorenzo/Dennis Cabanatan, 6-3, 6-0, to become the New # 76 Ranked Team in the Doubles Division! No Aces.
2 out of 3 Sets Doubles Match:
Anish Mehta/David Caicedo over Nick Caputo/Alex Hohorst, 6-4, 6-1, as both teams entered the Doubles Division as the New # 111 and # 112 Ranked Teams respectively! No Aces.
Dennis Cabanatan/Frank Hohorst tied with Senthil Kumar/Levy Lorenzo, 3-3 (Incomplete when the session ran out of time)! No Aces.
Anish Mehta/David Caicedo tied with Nick Caputo/Alex Hohorst, 2-2 (Incomplete when the session ran out of time)! No Aces.
Samara's Notes: I thank John for collecting those results and then reporting them in a very timely fashion. I also thank Doinks for her feedback as well. We now go to Cedar Grove for the result from Scott.
The Cedar Grove Result:
3 out of 5 Sets Challenge Match:
Scott Bergenfeld over Rafaelo Kazakov, 6-2, 6-1, 6-0, to successfully defend his # 37 Rank in the Intermediate Division! In the process, Kazakov moved out of the Non-Competing Men's Division and into the Intermediate Division as the New # 39 Ranked Player. Scott: 4 Aces (1 in the 1st Set and 3 in the 2nd Set)!
The Great Scott Shout-Out: It was a pretty competitive match despite the score. Rafaelo is very consistent and can place the ball well. Sun glare was an issue for both of us. All in all, it was a perfect fall afternoon for tennis.
Samara's Notes: I'm happy to see that Rafaelo answered the call and responded to Scott's Open Challenge. I also thank Scott for reporting this result in such a timely fashion.
Sincerely,
Frank Samara
