8/30 Results.

8/30/18:

"Doinks-Gen part of 8 at C.G.!":

There was just one official session of GTA Thursday Night Tennis and it was at the Cedar Grove Courts where the contributors to this report were "The S Bomber" Genalin Capan (detailing the Challenge Match she had against "The Marathon Woman" Doinks Srinivasan), "The Lumberjack" Ryan Pienciak and GTA Champion: "King Crush" Chris Chiaro.

Let's get to the action and we will have Gen start off this report!

The Cedar Grove Results:

2 out of 3 Sets Challenge Match:

Doinks Srinivasan over Genalin Capan, 7-6 (7-4), 6-0, to successfully defend her # 3 Rank in the Women's Division!  No Aces.

Duration: The 1st Set lasted one hour and the 2nd Set was 35 minutes long.

It was a monster of a 1st Set battle.  That set lasted 58 minutes and 7 minutes of that was for the Tiebreak (about one hour long!).  Both held our serves for 2-2.  Then there was an exchange of breaks for 3-3.  Then I managed to take lead at 4-3 and 5-3.  I was not able to close it out while up 5-3.  Doinks got it closer by taking the next two games for 5-All.  We both held for 6-6 to take us into the Breaker.

In the TB: Doinks had leads of 2-0, 2-1, 3-1, 3-2, 4-2, 4-3, 5-3, 5-4, 6-4 and 7-4.

I was not sure if I even had any energy left to play the 2nd Set.  I managed to push myself and we started the set.  We continued to battle for every point.  Doinks jumped out to 2-0 and 3-0. Doinks was serving and it went to a multi-Deuce battle.  I had my chances to break, but was not able to do it as she went up 4-0.  I was just barely hanging in there, but kept trying to muster whatever energy I had left.  I managed to hit a couple of winners, but I did not have enough energy left to back it up.  Doinks answered by blasting some winners of her own.  At this point, my consistency dropped due to fatigue.  I was broken on my serve again for 0-5.  And then it was Doinks serving for the match up 40-0 (Triple Match Point).  I saved 2 MPs for 40-30.  Then finally Doinks closed it out on her 3rd MP!

Thanks to Doinks for offering to play me in a Challenge Match for a shot at her # 3 Rank.  It was an intense battle from beginning to end as we fought hard for every point.  We had some great exchanges and many rallies.  Despite the bagel in the 2nd Set, it was a pretty awesome match. Doinks played well and lived up to her moniker "The Marathon Woman" as she seems like she was still fresh and ready to play a 3rd Set if needed.  I, on the other hand, was running on low to almost empty.  I was just glad to have lasted till the end and did not cramp up.  Congratulations to Doinks on her impressive victory!

Samara's Notes: Gen always comes thru with a detailed and timely report.  I offer her kudos for a spirited effort and also must congratulate Doinks on a very impressive victory.  Once again, we must consider Doinks to be one of the potential Nominees for Most Improved Women's Player of The Year at season's end.

2 out of 3 Sets Doubles Match:

Chris Chiaro/Ryan Pienciak over Adam Pienciak/Frank Hohorst, 6-3, 6-2, to successfully defend their # 33 Rank in the Doubles Division!  In the process, A. Pienciak/Hohorst entered the division as the New # 73 Ranked Team.  Adam: 2 Aces (one on each); Frank: 1 Ace on Ryan; Chris: 1 Ace on Adam; and Ryan: 1 Ace on Adam!

2 out of 3 Sets Doubles Match:

Frank Hohorst/Thomas Lee over Ryan Pienciak/Rob Gawley, 6-4, 6-4, as both teams entered the Doubles Division as the New # 74 and # 75 Ranked Teams respectively!  No Aces.

Samara's Notes: I thank everyone who reported results from this session in such a timely manner.  Both Chris and Ryan reported the result of that first Doubles Match, but it was Chiaro who came thru with the Ace count.  As always, all of this is greatly appreciated.

Sincerely,

Frank Samara
