7/3 Results.

7/3/18:

"Sally-Doinks part of 10 at C.G.!":

There was just one official session of GTA Tuesday Night Tennis and it was at the Cedar Grove Courts in the evening (after thunderstorms had rolled through much of the area in the early afternoon hours) as "The Smackdown" Sally Pillay and "The Marathon Woman" Doinks Srinivasan got together for their GAH8 Quarterfinal Match (with Doinks reporting).  Other contributors to this report from that session are Frank "Hydro" Hohorst and "The Riz" John Rizzo.

We will start with the Main Event (the GAH8 Quarterfinal) as I do believe that was the match to get the session started and then the rest of the results will follow from there.

The Cedar Grove Results:

GAH8 Quarterfinal Match:

Doinks Srinivasan over Sally Pillay, 7-5, 6-4, to become the New # 3 Ranked Player in the Women's Division while advancing to the Semifinals of the 8th Annual Gail-ann Hamilton Memorial Women's Singles Tournament!  No Aces.

The Details from Doinks: We finally played our match and I surprisingly won.  I apologize to the other GTA players who came and had to wait for a court.  John Rizzo didn't think it would be crowded (given the weather) so we decided to play our match here.  It was an oppressively and extremely humid evening!

We both have injuries, she with her foot and I with my right shoulder.  She gifted me with errors, both forced and unforced...so I just had to remain consistent and expose her weak side.  I also made some nice winners to take some of her service games.  When she served well, she easily won her service games.  She won points against my weak second serves.  Luck was on my side in this match.

Samara's Notes: I thank Doinks for sending that result in such a timely manner.  I also congratulate her on a highly impressive victory...one that some may consider to be something of an upset.  Doinks now advances to the Semis to face "J-Wow" Janice Wang while the other Semifinal will be "The Argentine Machine" Fernanda Toker versus "Automatic" Anna Mazur.
