6/30/18:
"Rizzo hosts 5 at NTC, Senthil hosts 5 at C.G.!":
There were just two official sessions of GTA Saturday Tennis: one late afternoon/early evening session at Nutley Tennis Club hosted by "The Riz" John Rizzo; and then an evening session at the Cedar Grove Courts where "The Webmaster" Senthil Kumar acted as the impromptu host.
Let's go to The Riz Report from NTC first and then get the Cedar Grove recap from Senthil second!
THIS JUST IN – We now have additional (correctional?) notes provided by "The K Man" Kris Srinivasan.
The NTC Results:
John Rizzo/Alfred Chen over Mike Mole/Janice Wang, 6-4! No Aces.
Dan Hwang/Janice Wang over Mike Mole/Alfred Chen, 8-6! No Aces.
The Riz Report: They played out the games in that last one…no Tiebreak!
Samara's Notes: I thank John for his timely reporting and also for inviting me to attend that session, but I was busy with my kids at the time.
We now head west to Cedar Grove.
The Cedar Grove Results:
Senthil Kumar/Kris Srinivasan over Mike Kazlauskas/Tito Castolo, 7-6 (7-3)! Mike: 1 Ace on Senthil!
The K has his say: We were down 2-5 and facing three Match Points, but we saved them all and went on to take it the distance!
Samara's Notes: Senthil originally had this as a 7-5 score, but I'm going with the score that Kris reported in this revised version of this report.
Mike Kazlauskas/Tito Castolo over Senthil Kumar/Kris Srinivasan, 6-2! Mike: 1 Ace on Senthil!
The K has his say: Familiar terrain once again as we were facing another three Match Points. We saved two this time around, but succumbed to the third. Mike was serving great and Senthil got unusually frozen on a few shots. Still, Senthil won multiple games with his volleys.
The Untangled Web by Senthil: We played these two sets between 8pm and 9:10. In the first one, Mike and Tito were up 5-2 and then we took the next five straight games for the comeback win!
