"4 play in Maywood – 3 out of 5 Sets Doubles!":
There was just one session of GTA Thursday Night Tennis and it came together somewhat on the fly after brief but intense rain flooded The Cedar Grove Courts, making any session there impossible.
"The Riz" John Rizzo worked his organizational skills behind the scenes and was able to pull together "Daddy O" Paul Daddio, "The Webmaster" Senthil Kumar and "NC-17" Nick Caputo for a session of Doubles at the Maywood Tennis Club (an indoors facility).
The Maywood Tennis Club Result:
3 out of 5 Sets Doubles Match:
Senthil Kumar/Nick Caputo over Paul Daddio/John Rizzo, 6-0, 6-1, 3-6, 6-4, to become the New #4 Ranked Team in the Doubles Division! No Aces.
The Riz Report: The first two sets were just a butt-kicking that only lasted 50 minutes. We finally won a game while down 0-5 in the 2nd Set. In the 3rd Set, Senthil and Nick were up 3-1, 40-15 (Double Game Point) before we ran off five straight games to take the set. In the 4th Set, we were down 0-3, but climbed back to 4-4 when we had only two minutes left and hurried up to finish. This was a fun match and originally we were going to make Sets 3 and 4 be a rematch, but since we ran out of time…we decided to let it stand as a 3 out of 5 instead.
