4/22 Results.

4/22/17:               

"Carucci-T.J. in Lyndhurst, Truong-Doyle TBC at C.G.!":                               

GTA Saturday Tennis took place at both The Riverside Ave. Courts in Lyndhurst (featuring the last of the First Round Matches in the GTA Intermediate Invitational Tournament to be played, this one between "MC Quick" Mike Carucci and "Teej" T.J. Shah and then at The Cedar Grove Courts (featuring the second of the Round of 16 Matches in the GTA Intermediate Invitational to be played, this one between "The A Bomb" Andrew Truong and "Kevlar" Kevin Doyle) with Mike and Andrew respectively reporting the results. 

We first turn this report over to Mike.

The Lyndhurst Result:

GTA Intermediate Invitational First Round Match:

T.J. Shah over Mike Carucci, 6-3, 6-2, as both players entered the Intermediate Division as the New # 39 and # 40 Ranked Players respectively while Shah advances to The Round of 16 of The GTA Intermediate Invitational Tournament!  T.J.: 3 Aces in the 1^st Set.

The Quick Recap: We played at 10am in Lyndhurst.  When we arrived, there were two GTA guys playing on one court and it was drizzling.  But the weather held just long enough for us to play our match. 

In the 1st Set, T.J. went up 4-0 until Mike held serve after two Deuces.  Mike then broke T.J., to make it 4-2.  T.J. held, but then Mike held for 5-3.  After two Deuces, T.J. broke Mike for the set, 6-3.  

In the 2nd Set, T.J. held at 1-0.  Mike went up 40-0 in the second game, only to be broken after several Deuces.  T.J. then held after more Deuces for 3-0.  Mike was broken and T.J. held for 5-0.  Then, Mike held and broke T.J. by holding off a few Match Points making it 5-2.  T.J. broke Mike for the set at 6-2 and the match.

We considered playing a quick Doubles One-Setter with our fellow GTA'ers, but the rain immediately fell.  Mother Nature had other plans on Earth Day...

Samara's Notes: I thank Mike for his timely reporting, but Mr. Carucci should be a mystery novelist…because he leaves me wondering just who these other two GTA guys were…LOL!

The Cedar Grove Result:

GTA Intermediate Invitational Round of 16 Match:

Andrew Truong leading Kevin Doyle, 6-0, 3-0!  No Aces.

The A droppin' The Bomb: It was at this point in the match when the rain came and the courts became unplayable. We'll revisit the match this week to finish it.
